China Clay!

Running on Wednesdays only, the China Clay is one of the more unusual freights on the West Coast. The train starts at Dollands Moor in the south of England before travelling over 13 hours to Irvine in Scotland. The train is usually hauled by double headed class 90's.

A bit of luck was involved last week as we captured the working twice. A long delay at Crewe resulted in very late running which allowed us to get a picture at Lancaster and then proceed ahead to get another at Carlisle.

Hawick Service Changes.

Scottish Borders Council have confirmed today that service changes will be taking throughout the Borders. First Borders who currently run the 75,76 and 77 will be withdrawing from Hawick, following  a review of it's operations in the area. The route at the moment currently utilises life expired Marshall bodied Darts which will presumably be scrapped. The Route will be revamped and labelled the H1 and H2.  Perrymans have been announced as the new operator and will operate an hourly service. Night Journeys will continue to be tendered with the day service receiving no funding. The changes will take place on 15th August.
